Luss, Scotland – The picturesque village of Luss on the shores of Loch Lomond has once again been marred by a troubling amount of litter. John Urquhart, Chairman of Friends of Loch Lomond, has expressed his disappointment in the inadequate management of the litter problem.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Urquhart stated, “Luss is once again in a disgraceful state due to the inadequate management of litter. This has become an annual issue, yet the two responsible authorities, Argyll & Bute Council and the National Park, have failed to take sufficient action.” He continued, “It is not acceptable for the Council to simply rely on their ‘Take your litter home’ message. It has been proven ineffective. What is needed are improved facilities and better management to maintain them. Similarly, the National Park cannot shirk their responsibility for keeping places like Luss free of litter.”
Urquhart has extended an invitation for the two authorities to work together on finding a solution. He has also revealed that the Friends of Loch Lomond have 18 high-quality litter bins in storage that can be immediately deployed in and around Luss.
