Chelmsford’s KT & MJA Solar Ltd has claimed the Family Business of the Year 2025 award at the Clean Energy Awards, a remarkable milestone for a company established just over a year ago.
Founded by Kevin Weedon in February 2023, the family-run solar business was built from scratch – both financially and emotionally. Its name pays tribute to the initials of Kevin’s children, with young Archie, now 11, designing the company logo when he was just 9.
Despite starting with no income, the company now installs solar systems at a rate of four per week. One standout project in 2024 was a 64-panel residential installation in Brentwood, valued at £38,000.
In response to soaring energy costs and rising demand for climate control, KT & MJA Solar has launched a limited-time summer offer: a complimentary air conditioning unit is included with every combined solar panel and battery package.
“We started this with nothing but belief, hard work, and a desire to build something lasting for our children,” said Director Kevin Weedon. “There were long nights, moments of doubt, and times we asked ourselves if it was even possible. But we’ve grown through word of mouth, referrals, and trust. To now be recognised as Family Business of the Year is a massive honour.”
KT & MJA Solar places strong emphasis on quality through its in-person site surveys. Their team assesses rooftops in detail – analysing angle, structure and wiring layout – to ensure each installation meets the highest performance standards.
This attention to detail has driven strong online engagement and customer satisfaction, with positive reviews flooding in on social channels and independent review sites alike.
Now fully MCS certified and endorsed by TrustMark, the company is also a recognised partner of Octopus Energy – further strengthening its credentials in the renewable energy sector.
Looking ahead, KT & MJA Solar will attend a series of county events in 2025, sharing their expertise and inspiring homeowners to embrace solar.
