Hundreds of musicians from across the UK are set to come together for a grand outdoor Christmas carol performance on Saturday December 13th at Kings Cross. The Big Christmas Wind Orchestra and Choir event is open for all to join in and celebrate the festive season with joyous music.
The event, now in its 14th year, has grown in popularity and continues to attract more performers each day. Individuals are welcome to participate free of charge, bringing along their wind, brass or percussion instruments or simply lending their voices to the choir. The programme will feature traditional carols such as “O Come All Ye Faithful” and “Hark the Herald Angels Sing”, as well as Christmas pop classics, orchestral favourites and special arrangements suitable for all skill levels.
The picturesque setting of Kings Cross, with its Christmas markets, shops and restaurants, will provide a stunning backdrop for the performance. The event coordinator, Adam Funnell, expressed his excitement for the event, stating that it is a highlight of the festive season for many performers and a great opportunity to showcase their talents in a non-committal setting.
This year’s event is expected to draw a crowd of 500 musicians from all over the UK and even from different parts of the world. Led by professional musical directors, the Big Christmas Wind Orchestra and Choir welcomes all to join in without any prior rehearsal or experience.
Interested participants are required to register online at bigchristmaswindorchestra.org in order to receive sheet music in advance. The event will kick off at 1pm and continue throughout the afternoon, with all accessibility needs taken care of. Spectators are also invited to attend and even sing along with the performers.
Don’t miss this opportunity to be a part of the Big Christmas Wind Orchestra and Choir, a cherished tradition that brings together people from all walks of life to celebrate the magic of Christmas through music.
