On Tuesday 25 November, 2025, the Sunshine Volunteers Organization announced its exciting new partnership with the Centre for National Culture, Ashanti Region. Together, they will launch a unique ‘PERFORMING ARTS’ volunteer program in Kumasi, Ghana – potentially the first of its kind in West Africa.
This program aims to foster creativity and collaboration between international performing arts students and practitioners, and Ghanaian professionals. Through cross-cultural performances and outreach programs, the volunteers and locals will work together to make a positive impact in the wider community.
Kieran Turnbull, a representative from the Sunshine Volunteers Organization in West Sussex, England, expressed his enthusiasm for the program. “As someone with a passion for live theatre, music, and the performing arts, I am thrilled to be a part of this new volunteer program. It is the perfect opportunity for drama, musical theatre, dance, and music students, as well as industry professionals, to make a difference in communities across Ghana.”
Florence Nketia, a representative from the Sunshine Volunteers Organization in Kumasi, Ghana, also shared her thoughts on the partnership. “This collaboration between the Sunshine Volunteers Organization and the Centre for National Culture, Kumasi, aims to strengthen sustainable community engagement through the performing arts. By working alongside local practitioners, volunteers will not only have the opportunity to learn and share ideas but also support outreach programs that address important community issues and drive social impact.”
Emmanuel Jewel Peprah Mensah, the Head of Department for Performing and Literary Arts at the Centre for National Culture, Ashanti Region in Kumasi, Ghana, highlighted the significant potential of this partnership. “By combining our expertise and resources, we aim to create community-led and educationally impactful cultural programs that showcase local talent, promote cultural heritage, and contribute to the artistic growth of Ashanti Region.
