London, 7 October 2025 – The Young Generation Art Award, a prestigious prize offered by Degussa Goldhandel in collaboration with art magazine Monopol, is now in its second year. After receiving a remarkable 400 submissions, the award’s open call for artists aged 35 and under has come to a close, and five finalists have been selected for the Young Generation Art Award 2026.
The shortlist of finalists will be officially announced on 15 October 2025 during the opening reception of Frieze London. As a partner of the renowned global art fair, taking place from 15 to 18 October 2025, Degussa is reaffirming its commitment to the arts through its involvement. In celebration of this partnership, Degussa will also honor the first winner of the award, Thuy Tien Nguyen, with a major exhibition showcasing new works exclusively created for Frieze and revealed for the first time.
The Young Generation Art Award is dedicated to supporting emerging artists in the early stages of their career. The aim is to nurture and guide young talent as they enter the professional art world. An expert jury will select the winner from among the five shortlisted artists. The prize includes 10,000 euros, and each finalist will receive 3,000 euros. The selected artworks will also be featured in a curated exhibition at the Degussa branch at Gendarmenmarkt in Berlin later this year.
This year’s jury is made up of highly respected individuals from the art world, including:
– Yilmaz Dziewior, Director of Museum Ludwig, Cologne
– Maya Heckelmann, curator and coordinator of arts and culture sponsorship at Degussa
– Elke Buhr, Editor-in-Chief of Monopol
