Toploader frontman Joe Washburn has expressed his excitement to headline the Music by the Sea Festival in Dorset. The event, taking place on September 2nd 2023, will help raise awareness and funds for two charities, #Willdoes and Cancare, that support the wellbeing of young people. To add an extra layer of excitement, Toploader will be joined on stage by the winner of an online talent contest.

Running until midday on August 26th 2023, the competition is open to solo and duo acts who write and perform their own material. The winner will not only get to perform on the same mainstage as Toploader, but will also have the opportunity to meet and greet the band, get a photo with them and watch from backstage. They will also be sharing the stage with local indie rock band Galaxy Thief who have recently seen their hit ‘Timewaster’ stream over a million times on Spotify and YouTube.

The festival is in memory of Henry Searle and William Paddy, two local young boys who tragically passed away. Lesley Paddy, founder of #Willdoes and mum of Will said: “Both charities are thrilled to have such a prestigious band headline at the festival and support such great causes. We’re also really keen to support upcoming talent. It’s such an incredible opportunity for someone to become famous!”

To enter, audition videos must be posted on the Facebook event page or emailed to info@willdoes.co.uk. Tickets for the festival, taking place at Prince Albert Gardens Swanage, are priced at £15 for adults with a postcode BH19/20 and £20 for all other adults. Children under 14 can enter for free.
