“England Takes Home Victory at 33rd International Fireworks Competition in Hannover – 2026 Theme, Teams, and Dates Officially Announced!”

Hannover, Germany – The 33rd International Fireworks Competition, organized by Hannover Veranstaltungs GmbH (HVG), came to an exciting conclusion on September 20, 2025 at the Royal Gardens of Herrenhausen. Among strong international contenders, the English team Pyrotex Fireworx emerged as the winner of the coveted title with their thrilling performance titled “Lights, Camera, Action”. The event, which was attended by approximately 11,500 spectators, also awarded second place to Firemaster Productions from Canada and third place to dfp vuurwerk from the Netherlands.

Led by founder Mark Kelsall, Pyrotex Fireworx showcased their expertise in both the fireworks industry and music sector with their mesmerizing performance. Their winning entry, which paid tribute to iconic films such as Gladiator, Rocky and Star Wars, captured the hearts of both the jury and audience with its precise synchronization of fireworks, music, and voiceovers.

Established in 1999, Pyrotex Fireworx has become one of the UK’s most successful pyrotechnic teams, winning accolades worldwide. Their recent achievements include securing both jury and audience prizes at the 2024 competition in Vancouver and being crowned Grand Champions in the Philippines in 2019. This win in Hannover adds another milestone to their impressive success story.

The performances were evaluated based on specific criteria, including overall impression and creativity, synchronization with music, technical execution, color design and effects, level of difficulty and innovation. Ultimately, the team’s harmonious overall presentation earned them the title of the 2025 champions.

The 2025 competition only featured teams from countries with historical ties to Hannover and the Royal Gardens of Herrenhausen, making England a fitting participant. The Act of Settlement of 1701 allowed the House of Hanover to inherit the English throne, and the English Hanoverian kings were regular visitors to Herrenhausen until 1837. Pyrotex Fireworx’s performance paid tribute to this cultural heritage, adding a special touch to the anniversary year.

Looking ahead, the Royal Gardens of Herrenhausen will once again become a stage for world-class pyrotechnics in 2026. The theme for the competition will be “Dance of Northern Lights”, with five teams from Northern Europe competing to create spectacular shows inspired by the stunning aurora borealis. The competition will take place between May and September, featuring teams from Denmark, Norway, Finland, Scotland, and Sweden.
