Join Bitton and Oldland Cycling Club for the Bitton Glow Ride 2026, an engaging event set to illuminate the Bristol to Bath Railway Path on October 22 at 6:30 PM. This unique cycling experience welcomes participants of all ages and abilities, encouraging them to enhance their bicycles with lights and high-visibility gear as part of a national campaign endorsed by Cycling UK.
The evening ride will commence from the historic Bitton Station, transforming the path into a vibrant display of cyclists uniting for safer cycling infrastructure, particularly for women. The local social cycling group, consisting of 130 members, aims to reclaim the roads for women and other vulnerable road users who often lose their freedom to cycle when the sun sets.
“2025’s Glow Ride in drizzle that turned to really cold rain, saw 16 of our local riders light up the Railway Path with sparkles, glow sticks, bike lights and loads of cowbells to demand safer cycling infrastructure. This year’s ride will start directly from the elegant Victorian forecourt at Bitton Station and it promises to be brighter, bigger and even better,” said Steve Cox, Chair of the Bitton and Oldland Cycling Club.
The event has free tickets available on Eventbrite, and participants can find additional details online at the Bitton Glow Ride event page and the Cycling UK website. This annual ride serves both as a light-hearted community gathering and a crucial statement advocating for improved cycling safety.
