Teesside, 28 August 2026: Young tennis and padel players in the Tees Valley now have the opportunity to receive support with coaching, equipment, competition costs, and travel thanks to the Tees Valley Tennis Foundation.
The Foundation has officially opened its main support application route for young people facing financial barriers to participating in these sports. Parents and guardians can now apply for support to help their child start, continue, or progress in tennis or padel.
According to Phil Lowe, Chair of the Tees Valley Tennis Foundation, “Cost can be a real barrier for young people who want to start, continue, or progress in tennis or padel. We are pleased to open this application route, giving families a clear way to tell us where that barrier exists and what support could make a practical difference.”
The Foundation will consider requests for support in various areas including coaching and participation, essential equipment, competition and tournament costs, and travel expenses related to tennis or padel. The support is aimed at young people between the ages of 8-18 who live in the TS postcode area and are facing financial difficulties that prevent them from participating in these sports.
Each application will be carefully reviewed by the Foundation’s trustees. While meeting the eligibility criteria does not guarantee support, the Foundation is committed to helping as many young people as possible access and stay involved in tennis and padel.
The Foundation’s new application route follows a successful summer support pilot program with Tennis World & Middlesbrough Padel Club. The pilot funded a limited number of summer camp day places for young people who may have struggled with the cost of attending. This initiative was part of the Foundation’s efforts to understand local needs and develop practical solutions to reduce financial barriers in tennis and padel.
Interested parents and guardians can now apply for support through the Foundation’s website at https://www.tvtf.org.uk/apply/.
