HappierMe, a wellbeing and life-skills app focused on prevention, has unveiled a significant relaunch featuring Olly, an AI-assisted personal guide. The app is now included in the libraries of Mind and Macmillan Cancer Support, reflecting its commitment to mental health support.
Dr. Manoj Krishna, who transitioned from a career as a spine surgeon, founded HappierMe to address the growing need for mental health resources. With the new version of HappierMe, users not only manage their emotions but also gain insights into the root causes of their feelings, fostering deeper, lasting changes in their emotional health.
Built on the principle that happiness can be cultivated as a skill, HappierMe encourages self-awareness and emotional skill development to help users navigate life’s challenges and improve their relationships. This initiative coincides with alarming statistics from the World Health Organization, which estimates over one billion people globally live with a mental health condition. Furthermore, a Gallup report indicated that 46% of UK employees felt stressed significantly over the previous day.
“Stress can feel like a fire in the mind. HappierMe offers practical tools to help people put out the fire, but then invites them to go deeper and understand why it started. That understanding can help reduce the risk of the problem recurring,” Dr. Krishna stated, explaining his motivation for creating the app. “I left my career as a spine surgeon to create HappierMe because I believe deeper self-understanding can help us prevent many emotional problems, manage them better when they arise and be happier.”
Stephen Buckley, Head of Information at Mind, expressed support for the app’s relaunch: “Mind is delighted to welcome HappierMe to its app library. We realise that working upstream to prevent mental health problems is important and self-awareness can play a really important role in managing our mental health.”
The redesigned HappierMe app introduces Olly, who assists users in reflecting on their thoughts and feelings. Olly directs them to relevant resources from HappierMe’s curated library, providing alternatives to sifting through the internet for answers.
The new Guided Journeys feature facilitates daily micro-learning and practical exercises, turning insights into sustainable change. HappierMe offers distinct programs for adults, teenagers, and parents, making it widely accessible on iOS, Android, as well as through workplaces, universities, and healthcare organizations.
